TeamGB.A.S.nails

Happy mid week everyone!!! I hope you've all been watching the Olympics and cheering on Team GB (or any other country if you're not from Great Britain). We have the Olympics showing at work and I do find myself watching it a lot instead of talking to customers (oops) but they have been great!

In essence of the Olympics I have done some wonderful Team GB nails! For these I used Models Own white for the base and their nail art pens, with a couple of Tantrums pens, for the detailing. Instead of the Olympic rings I opted for stripes in the same colours. These are different and easier to do as I think if I did the rings they would all end up being different sizes! These are easy to do (the Union Jacks were a little tricky) and very fun!

Everyone has been commenting on them! Working in Stratford (where the Olympics are taking place) I feel all the great energy and hype of the Olympics. So come on Team GB!!! Get some GOLD!!!

Have a wonderful day everyone!

London.A.S.nails

Ok, so we've done Union jack nails and we've done Olympic nails but after watching the opening ceremony on Friday night and watching lots and lots (...and lots!) of the Olympic games, I started to feel very proud of us Brits!
So today I have some London nails that are different on each nail.
I've kept those three Great colours. Red with Rio, white with Rio and Essie, & Blue with Rimmel. (Plus a bit of Rio's black nail pen too!)

The London bus on my middle finger and the peace heart on my ring fingers were hard! I had to steady my other hand on the table when I did those!
But favourite is the London underground heart on the thumb.

What nails have you got today?!

Have a great Tuesday! And go team GB!! Woo!

Nails of the Week!!

Todays nails are from Chloe Barkway @chloe0504 on Twitter!

We love these and have done it ourselves! I think she used Barry M Indigo and dotting tools. We also love that she's also done spots on one and flowers on the other!

Keep on painting Chloe! We want to see more!!

Flowers.A.S.nails

A bit of a late post this evening but better late than never hey :)

These are a bit crazy colourful! But fun, I think. We have a Sunflower, Rose, Pansy, Lily and a Poppy.
I got this idea from my friend - who has two flowers names in her name so insisted I do them on my nails.

I used Rio nail art pens in black, white, red, green, blue, yellow and green for most of this design! They really are worth purchasing, I get so much use out of them!!

Hope you like these summery nails!!

Do you have any flower themed nails you'd like to show us? If you do, send them to cute.as.nails1@gmail.com

We'd <3 to see them!

Nude.A.S.nails

With this title I hope none of you get the wrong idea!! *giggles*

On the weekend I invested in a few new Barry M colours which included Nude and Black Multi Glitter. I used the two this week to create a pretty mani.

I started with a base coat and then I had to paint quite a few coats of the Nude and it is very nude and I wanted it to be slightly less opaque. Once dried i used the Black Multi Glitter to add some nice contrasting tips. I painted my ring finger all Black as I've seen a lot of this recently and it meant you could have a real look at the Black Multi Glitter.

This is easy to do and looks great! Give it ago. You can mix up the colours too!

Sunset.A.S.nails

Morning!!

Today I have some sunset nails I did a few weeks ago and almost forgot about!
I love it when the sky has pinks and orange colours in it. It looks so beautiful!

For these I used a coat of Barry M - Flamingo pink over the whole nail. Then Barry M - Peach Melba, painted from the cuticles to the middle of the nail.
Next I used Rimmel - fruity peach to paint a strip in between the pink and lighter peach. I did this roughly so I didn't get a straight line. I wanted to make this part look like the clouds of a sunset so each nail looked different.
Finally I used Rio nail pen - Black to draw the silhouette of the land, the flying birds and the palm tree.

I love all these peachy, orangey colours together!

I hope these make you feel all relaxed, wishing you were chilling on a beach somewhere with a pretty sky...

Have a lovely, tangerine Tuesday!

Dice.A.S.nails

Yay its Friday!!!! Im very much looking forward to the weekend as the boy and I are heading home to see our families and friends. Which means a Cute.A.S. meeting! Woo.

I hope you've all had a good week this week. To end all the nail art for this week i have done some very simple but quirky Dice Nails.

These were very easy so you can all do it! I started by painting my left hand with Models Own White and my right hand with Barry M black. I waited for it to dry and then topped it off with Rimmel pro matte finish to make them beautifully matte. Instead of using nail art pens for the dots, I used a wooden kebab skewer (I know that's a bit odd) as it had a flat round end to it which was perfect to create round dots for the dice numbers. I did numbers 1 - 5 but you can mix it up and maybe not have them in a specific order. Try it!

Please send your nail art to cute.as.nails1@gmail.com or follow us on Twitter @cute_AS_nails to let us know what nail colour you're wearing for the weekend!

Have a great weekend everyone!

Gradient.A.S.nails

These are a super easy, quick and fun way to do pastel gradient nails, that anyone can try!
Using a sponge and some white nail polish I wanted to create a sort of ocean spray/wave/speckled texture with these!

I chose my favourite five pastel Barry M colours. Blue, Peach, Lilac, Mint, and Strawberry.
And let them dry.
Next you take a clean dry sponge and literally paint it with white nail varnish.
Try not to use too much or you won't get the right texture.
Then very lightly sponge over the nail.
Leave to dry slightly.
Repeat this but only over the middle and tip of the nail.
And then again finally just on the tip so you get that fading effect.
A quick top coat for shine and they're done!

These are great because you can try so many colour variations. We would love to see your gradient colour combos!

Just send them in :)

Party.A.S.nails

Hello readers! Its mid week and a week from pay day... Yay!! We all know that our money is spent on nail varnish so lets get some good ideas of what to do with it all!

On the weekend i went to an 80th birthday party... Yes i did say 80th! Amazing! I got to see all my lovely family including my incredibly fun cousins!

Anyway, for the party i did some great party nails for a bit of fun. On each finger there was something different - starting with my thumb i had a cake, candles, streamers, party popper and balloons! I used Barry M for all the base colours (blue moon, peach melba, mint green, berry ice cream and pale yellow), doing two coats on each. For the detailing i used Models Own and Tantrum nail art pens.

Everyone at the party loved the nails and it was fun to do!

If you have some nail art to show us either send it to cute.as.nails1@gmail.com or follow us on Twitter @cute_AS_nails

Have a great rest of the week!

Seaside.A.S.nails

'Oh I do like to be beside the seaside!'

Well...in the sun I do anyway. I bet it's a bit soggy at the beaches in England today.
Oh well, we can still wish!

I find pale blue nail varnish is becoming very useful to Sophie and I for most of our nail art designs!
For todays cute nails I used Chanel - Riva blue for the sky, Barry M - Lemon and Models Own - Yellow for the sand and Rio nail art pens for the detail.

Aah how nice it would be to be lounging on a striped deck chair right now. Sand in between your toes. Maybe an ice-cream in hand!
Ok, perhaps we're getting a bit obsessed with our lack of summer now...haha!

Hope you enjoy these and have a great day!!

Nails of the Week!

For this weeks nails of the week we have some amazingly cute polka dot tip nails from @minnieburton on Twitter.

We LOVE these as instantly they made us think of Minnie Mouse! And who doesn't lover her! We particularly liked the bow detailing which gives it that extra touch.

Well done Minnie Burton for your fantastic nails!

Thank you again for your entries. Please send any more to cute.as.nails1@gmail.com or follow us on Twitter @cute_AS_nails and enter there!

Blossom.A.S.nails

Happy Friday everyone!!

I guess this is more of a spring nail art but with this weather its hard to even recognise what time of year it is anyway!! Cherry blossom is one of my favourite flowers (or tree?) as its so pretty!

To do these nails i used Barry M mint green for the background with Models Own and Tantrum nail art pens for the detailing.

It was very easy to do with the pens and looks cute from up close and far away!

On my other hand i just did a few flowers around the bottoms of my nails to carry the theme over.

We would love the see your nails! Please send them to cute.as.nails1@gmail.com for your chance to be nails of the week!

Have a great weekend and keep on painting!!

Umbrella.A.S.nails

Rain rain rain!!

The great British summer hey!
If you're like me (and Mary Poppins) you will also be carrying an umbrella around in your handbag to stay well prepared for these random downpours!!

I love pretty umbrellas. I had one with pink dogs on when I was younger!

Ive had lots of compliments on these so if you want to try these brolly nails too...
I have used Chanel - Riva blue for the main colour. Plus Rio and Kiss nail paint for the clouds and for the umbrellas themselves. For the rain I used Barry M - Cyan Blue but I used a separate thin tip brush to get the rain drops the right size.
On my thumbs I chose to draw the sun, no rain and the umbrella down....wishful thinking!

Even though we hate the rain hopefully you still enjoy these and let's hope the only umbrellas we will need soon will be the ones in our cocktail glass!!

Have a great Thursday x

Penguins.A.S.nails

Hello to you all!

Today i have some super cute penguin nails with a cheeky polar bear on the thumb! Im not sure whether polar bears are meant to eat penguins but on my nails they're all friends! I've only done two penguins as they mate for life. These are penguins in love <3

To do these i used Barry M Blue Moon (2 thick coats as its quite pale) and then Models Own Snow White for all of the white parts and black and yellow art pens for the details.

These are easy to do and look super cute! On the other hand i did white spots which could be seen as snow.

We would love to see your nails so please send them to cute.as.nails1@gmail.com for your chance to be our nails of the week!!

Enjoy your day!

Olympics.A.S.nails

Morning!!

I've been planning on doing some Olympic games themed nail art for a while to celebrate London 2012 and, yesterday, this is what I came up with.

I've chosen to do the five Olympic rings on my fingernails and the London skyline on my thumbs. (I have the London Eye on my left thumb and Big Ben on my right)

This is a simple design but I think it's quite nice because it's not too over the top.
If you like these and want the London skyline at your fingertips too...I used Essie - Adore-a-ball White and Rio nail art pens for the detail in yellow, green, red, blue and black!!

Or, if you have some nail designs of your own we would love to see them! Send your olym-pics to cute.as.nails1@gmail.com for our Nails of the Week!!

Have a great Tuesday!

Nails of the Week!!

For our first nails of the week we had a great entry with a great story! Here is the email...

"An unusual entry for you.   These nails may not be 'nail art' but are of a 36 year old man.
I recently was asked to undertake a 'Girly Challenge' to raise money for cancer services in Ireland. Not knowing what I was getting myself into I agreed.  For the record I never ever before have worn any sort of female attire or makeup etc.
I was given a full body wax, including eyebrows. Tinted brows and lashes and my finger and toenails painted.  I didn't realise or even know what Gel Nail polish was, until I tried to remove it.  My fingers were as shown for 5 days and my toes for 5 weeks. Something called Shellac.
Funnily enough since this day I have developed a appreciation for woman and they're nails. This is really just a tongue in cheek entry as I have to repeat the nails again in a months time for a cheque handover.
Maybe you could suggest a colour and polish for this time lol. I enjoy seeing your nail creations as does my wife.
You're very talented.
The Nail Guy ;) "

We loved this email! It made us smile! It's great what some men go through for charity and this was a great cause for the Donegal Hospice and Oncology Unit.

If you want to know more then please check out the Facebook page www.facebook.com/GoingGirly4Charity

We hope you managed to raise lots of money! We think next time you should go with a nice pastel pink as it is summer after all!

Please send your nail art to cute.as.nails1@gmail.com for your chance to be Nails of the Week!

Ice-lolly.A.S.nails

Its Friday again wooo!!

Now, even though we have pretty much given up on our British summer weather, it doesn't mean the things that come with it can't happen!
Everyone loves an ice lolly and it's so hard to walk past an ice cream van or hear the music in the distance without thinking...I want one!!

These lolly nails are a bit of fun! And I've chosen Fab, Fruit Pastilles lolly, Twister, Feast and Orange Calippo for each nail.
Which one would you chose as a child? (Or an adult!!)
My favourite was a Twister!

Have you tried any summer holiday themed nail art? We would love to see them! Just email cute.as.nails1@gmail.com

Hope you find these good enough to eat!!
Have a great weekend x

Beach huts.A.S.nails

My greatest childhood holiday memory has always been when my family and family friends (there were 10 of us altogether, 4 adults and 6 children) all stayed in a very very small beach hut for the whole summer! Being England it obviously rained a lot but we always managed to have fun by making rivers in the sand for the water to flow down and painting stones (this could be when I found my slight artistic flare) which we then tried selling to all the visitors.

Anyway, here are some beach hut nails in memory of my fantastic childhood holiday! For the sky I used Barry M blueberry (I seem to like this colour) and all the detailing with Models Own and Tantrum nail art pens. I also topped off the yellow tips with Rimmel Pro Matte Finish to make them stand out a bit.

On my other hand I painted them all blueberry with yellow tips apart from my ring finger which i added some white stripes instead of tips. You can do anything on this hand however i don't have a very steady left hand so it would look quite dreadful if i tried to do a lot of detail!

What is your favourite childhood memory? Maybe you could paint your nails to fit it like me! Please send any nail art to cute.as.nails1@gmail.com for your chance to be nails of the week!!!

Frog.A.S.nails

You know the saying 'you have to kiss a lot of frogs to find your Prince...'
Well, this is what today's nail art is themed around!

The pink lips, using the brand Kiss nail paint (very fitting!) in hot pink, represent all those kisses! And the crown on the tip of my ring finger fits nicely on top of the frog on my thumb nail! I used Barry M - Gold and Tantrum nail pen in Lime. The base is Barry M - Nude.

If there could be a song to theme today's nails, I think it would be Kiss by Prince!
Everyone loves a Prince...Wills, Harry, Charming.
(And I'm lucky enough to have found mine too.)

These are a bit random but I hope you like that.

Have a great day!!

Washing.A.S.nails

Happy Tuesday to you all!! Sorry for the lack of post yesterday however, today i have some fun nails for you.

Here they are.... Washing line nails!!! 'Woah' i hear you say.

To do these i used Barry M blueberry for the sky and green for the grass (of course) along with Models Own and Tantrum nail art pens for the detailing. On my right hand i decided to do the blue sky in matte by putting Rimmel Pro Matte Finish on the top and then painting on the grass and some clouds to make them stand out. You could also paint some other garden objects on your right hand if you have a steady left hand!

I hope no one left their washing out yesterday... I think it would have got wetter!

Have a good day everyone!
